WWE Is Planning The Return Of Randy Orton
WWE fans can anticipate the return of Randy Orton just in time for WrestleMania following a storyline-driven absence. Orton was written off WWE television after a brutal assault by Kevin Owens on the November 8th episode of SmackDown, setting the stage for a storyline return of revenge and resilience.
On the show, Orton took to the microphone to publicly challenge Owens. This challenge was in response to a prior attack at Crown Jewel where they were supposed to wrestle each other only for the bout to never start.
Owens was initially restrained by road agent Petey Williams and referee Dan Engler. He broke free from their grasp and charged into the ring, causing a brawl with Orton.
They got into it, with Orton briefly gaining the upper hand. However, Owens retaliated with a devastating piledriver—a move banned in WWE due to its danger as the star taking it lands on their head. This high-risk maneuver is rarely seen in WWE and sent shockwaves through the fans.
As the dust settled, road agents and referees rushed to Orton’s aid. To sell the move, Orton was eventually placed on a stretcher and transported to the hospital in an ambulance, with Cody Rhodes accompanying him. Later in the show, Michael Cole provided an update, noting that Orton was undergoing evaluation for undisclosed cervical injuries.

According to a report by PWInsider.com, Orton is expected back in the mix by next month (March), and the current plans call for Orton to be back in time for WWE’s European tour. This tour will take place prior to WrestleMania 41.
It’s believed that Orton will feud with Owens heading into WrestleMania 41, with the two stars expected to meet at the show.
Owens will wrestle Sami Zayn in an unsanctioned match at the Elimination Chamber premium live event on Saturday, March 1, 2025, from Toronto at the Rogers Centre. It’s possible that WWE will have Orton make his grand return during the bout, costing Owens the match while helping Zayn secure the win. Throughout his hiatus, Orton has not publicly commented on it.
