WWE Raw Determines New Championship Contender With Huge Battle Royal
The latest episode of WWE’s “Monday Night Raw” featured significant implications for the World Heavyweight Championship. An early announcement from general manager Adam Pearce revealed that Seth Rollins is injurred, and therefore was stripped of his championship belt.
With that, Pearce respectfully requested Bron Breakker hand over the championship belt he walked into Raw with. The Raw GM also shared that a huge battle royal would happen later in the show to determine a new contender to face CM Punk at “Saturday Night’s Main Event” for the championship.
That confirmed a legitimate injury that Rollins suffered while at the WWE Crown Jewel event in Perth, Australia, which would require surgery and keep him out of action for a considerable amount of time. As of this writing, WWE hadn’t indicated how long that would be.

As one might expect, the battle royal on Raw featured many worthy contenders, except for Bron and his pal Bronson Reed due to Pearce prohibiting them from participating. It included noteworthy stars such as Jimmy and Jey Uso, Kofi Kingston, El Grande Americano, Dominik Mysterio, AJ Styles, LA Knight, Penta, and Finn Balor.
The final four competitors came down to Dirty Dom, LA Knight, Jimmy, and Jey Uso. However, only one individual could win the event and become the new No. 1 contender for that championship belt.
Ultimately, Jey Uso reigned supreme, capturing the massive victory to end WWE Raw. It featured him dumping his brother Jimmy and LA Knight over the top rope, before throwing Dom out. With that, Jey will face CM Punk for the vacated World Heavyweight Championship at “Saturday Night’s Main Event.”
Punk, who joined the commentary for the Raw battle royal, is a multi-time champion, including briefly winning the current World Heavyweight Championship from Gunther in early August. Jey also held the World Heavyweight Championship once, after defeating Gunther at WrestleMania 41.
Punk is looking to regain that championship Rollins stole from him using his Money in the Bank briefcase cash-in at SummerSlam 2025. However, fans always love Jey Uso, who seemingly turned against Jimmy by eliminating him late.
“Saturday Night’s Main Event” occurs Nov. 1 at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, with Peacock presenting it via live streaming.
In addition to that huge match on Raw, the WWE Tag Team Championship changed hands as AJ Styles and Dragon Lee defeated Judgment Day’s Finn Balor and JD McDonagh. Maxine Dupree was unsuccessful in her attempt to win the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship from Becky Lynch.
