WWE Spoils Result Of Big Title Match
WWE may have inadvertently revealed the result of an upcoming AAA Mega Championship match through its promotion for the WWE x AAA Worlds Collide event. During the May 26, 2025, episode of Monday Night Raw, the match between Chad Gable and El Hijo del Vikingo at Worlds Collide was advertised as being for AAA’s top prize, the Mega Championship.
This has raised eyebrows, as El Hijo del Vikingo is not the current titleholder. Vikingo is scheduled to challenge the reigning AAA Mega Champion, Alberto El Patron, for the prestigious title this Saturday, May 31, 2025, at an AAA television taping.

El Patron has held the championship since August 17, 2024, establishing himself as AAA’s premier heel. He notably formed an alliance with Konnan, JBL, and Dorian Roldan. The WWE advertisement strongly implies that Vikingo will be successful in his challenge against El Patron just days before Worlds Collide on June 7th.
The feud between Gable and Vikingo escalated on this week’s Raw. Vikingo appeared in the crowd during a Money in the Bank qualifying match that featured Gable against Dragon Lee and Penta El Zero Miedo.
Gable attacked Vikingo at the ringside, but later, Vikingo interfered by hopping on the apron and kicking Gable as he was on the top rope, which ultimately contributed to Penta winning the qualifier.

Gable has recently embraced a new persona known as El Grande Americano. This heel gimmick sees Gable, often accompanied by his Alpha Academy stablemates (Otis, Akira Tozawa, and Maxxine Dupri), mock and disrespect lucha libre traditions and luchadors, claim American wrestling superiority, and often demand opponents “Shooosh!”
This is just good old-fashioned heel heat by any measure. This character has seen him clash with several luchador-style wrestlers in WWE.
This entire scenario unfolds against the backdrop of a significant relationship between WWE and AAA. In a landmark move, WWE acquired AAA earlier in 2025, cementing a powerful alliance set to reshape the global wrestling landscape.
This partnership has already facilitated talent exchanges and crossover events, with the WWE x AAA Worlds Collide show being a cornerstone of this new era, aiming to showcase the best of both promotions. WWE has yet to address the mishap.
