WWE’s Mariah May Expected To Undergo Major Change: Report
Mariah May made her impactful and long-awaited WWE debut on the June 3, 2025, episode of NXT. By doing so, she immediately inserted herself into the NXT Women’s Championship picture.
This surprise appearance came just days after her contract with All Elite Wrestling expired, where she was a former AEW Women’s World Champion. The segment saw new NXT Women’s Champion Jacy Jayne attempting to celebrate her title win over Stephanie Vaquer from the previous week.
Her address was interrupted by a series of NXT women, including Thea Hail, Lola Vice, Lash Legend, Jaida Parker, Kelani Jordan, and Jordynne Grace, all staking a claim for a title shot, leading to a brawl. As chaos broke out, the lights dimmed, and a spotlight hit the crow’s nest, revealing May.
While WWE announcers did not mention her by name, May took the microphone with a clear message. “It’s about damn time. I’ve wrestled all over the world, and it’s only right that The Glamour arrives in NXT,” May declared in a digital exclusive later posted on WWE NXT’s X account.

Despite her established “Mariah May” name, which is believed to be her real name, TC WrestleVotes reports that WWE will be getting a new name under the Stamford-based promotion once it’s decided what it will be.

This approach mirrors that of another former AEW talent, Ricky Starks, whose name was initially unmentioned upon his NXT arrival before being changed to Ricky Saints. This strategy often relates to WWE securing intellectual property rights for its characters.
May, originally from the United Kingdom, was encouraged by WWE coaches to gain global experience after an NXT UK tryout in 2018. She made a significant name for herself in Japan with STARDOM, where she captured the Goddesses of Stardom Championship with Mina Shirakawa.
She then joined AEW in late 2023, initially as Toni Storm’s protégé, before winning the 2024 Owen Hart Foundation Tournament and defeating Storm for the AEW Women’s World Championship at All In 2024. This is a title Storm later regained at Revolution 2025.
Her arrival adds another major talent to NXT’s stacked women’s division, which also includes champion Jacy Jayne.
