Milestone home runs are always a big deal in a player’s career, but Chisholm’s came on a night when he was playing through some grief.
“It felt kind of surreal,” Chisholm told reporters in a clip posted by SNY when asked how the 100th home run felt. “I lost my best friend (Saturday). Today felt like a different type of day, especially with the 100th home run coming (Sunday).”
Chisholm had a monster June, but his average has declined in July and August. However, his power is still showing. His 24 home runs this year tied a career high, which he set last season.
The two-time All-Star has done nothing but perform for the Yankees since being acquired. He has been flexible in the field and continues to be a steady player in the lineup.
