Yankees Suggested to Target Dodgers Starting Pitcher to Improve Rotation
🎙️ Voice is AI-generated. Inconsistencies may occur.
After a successful offseason, it appeared the New York Yankees would have a three-headed monster in their pitching rotation with Gerrit Cole, Max Fried and Carlos Rodon.
That trio could be matched up with any other trio across baseball and it looked like the Yankees’ pitching would be able to help get them back to the World Series in consecutive seasons.
Unfortunately for New York, Cole underwent Tommy John surgery and did not step on the mound at Yankee Stadium this season. Fried has been lights-out so far (17 1/3 innings, 1.56 ERA) while Rodon has been not so great (23 innings, 5.48 ERA).
The Yankees staff as a whole has not been great, as it holds an ERA of 4.46, ranking 24th out of 30 teams. Considering the stats and the current injuries in the rotation (Marcus Stroman, Luis Gil, Clarke Schmidt) the Yankees desperately need more pitching.
Athlon Sports’ Conor Ligouri has suggested New York go after Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Landon Knack. Knack is currently in the Dodgers rotation due to the injury to left-hander Blake Snell.

With both Snell and Clayton Kershaw beginning to work their way back from injury, Knack will most likely be pushed out of the rotation when Los Angeles returns to full strength.
Knack, 24, was solid last season, finishing the year with a 3.65 ERA across 15 appearances and 12 starts. This season has been unkind, as he boasts a 10.38 ERA across just two appearances.
A change of scenery to New York and a place where he would get to start every fifth day like he did some last season for Los Angeles could be what Knack needs to return to the form he showcased in his rookie season.
