A pregnant cat showed up at a woman’s door, and what happened next has melted hearts across the internet.
Marcia Iacono-Hazzard (@zzhomestead), 38, a pet groomer from Delaware, shared a video of a pregnant black-and-white cat arriving on her doorstep and later documenting the feline’s journey as she gave birth to five kittens. The video has racked up 95,600 likes and 1.3 million views on TikTok.
“It was actually another mama cat that showed up first crying at my bedroom window, but every time I went to feed her, she ran off. Then, one day when I was outside shaking the food another cat showed up instead, so I started feeding what I thought was a male cat with worms at the time. To my surprise, she was actually a pregnant female who was pretty far along,” Iacono-Hazzard told Newsweek.
She went on to explain that every morning and night, the expectant cat would wait on the family’s steps, bringing joy to both her and her 8-year-old daughter.
Once she realized the cat was due to give birth imminently, Iacono-Hazzard built a warm, safe catio for her and another stray they had been feeding.
However, on a cold and rainy night, the cat delivered her kittens outside on the ground. Iacono-Hazzard said that when she discovered them, four of the five kittens were unresponsive. She and her daughter rushed the newborns indoors, heating towels in the dryer and working to revive each one. According to her, they managed to save all five, who are now thriving at five weeks old.
The family is keeping the mother—named Dora by her daughter because “she is an explorer”—along with two of the kittens. As a pet groomer, Iacono-Hazzard found homes for the remaining three with clients.
TikTokers flooded the comments section to share their support and their own rescue stories.

“We used to have a cat in our garage and one day found out she gave birth in the trailer. When she left she put a bird she had hunted on our doorstep,” shared another commenter.
“The way she started making biscuits when she was inside,” added another user.
“Someone left this beautiful gray kitty. There are three of us feeding it and made it an insulated house for the winter,” added another.
“I fed & took in a skinny female cat who suddenly wasn’t so skinny—she has five kittens and they all became part of my ever growing clowder. I ended up with 11 in total! Had them all neutered,” added Mandy.
