Zhang Weili and Joanna Jedrzejczyk have further etched their names in UFC history. During the UFC 326 broadcast on Saturday, play-by-play announcer Jon Anik announced that the UFC 248 strawweight title fight between Weili and Jedrzejczyk will be inducted into the Fight Wing section of the UFC Hall of Fame. Weili won the fight to retain the 115-pound gold via unanimous decision.
This is the first women’s fight to be honored in the Fight Wing. The memorable clash took place on March 7, 2020, which was just before the COVID-19 pandemic forced the top MMA promotion to hold events without fans. It was a highly regarded classic that served as the UFC 248 co-main event. The headliner that night was a widely panned middleweight title bout between Israel Adesanya and Yoel Romero.

Joanna Jedrzejczyk’s Second UFC Hall of Fame Induction
Now that she is set to enter the Fight Wing, Jedrzejczyk will become a two-time UFC Hall of Famer. The once dominant UFC strawweight titleholder was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame class of 2024. She joined Frankie Edgar, Wanderlei Silva, and Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, along with Fight Wing inductees Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen.
Zhang Weili Is Still Elite
Weili is a former two-time UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion. She wasn’t beaten for the gold in her second reign, but she did vacate the title to challenge Valentina Shevchenko for the UFC Women’s Flyweight Championship. Zhang fell short in the bout, dropping a unanimous decision to “Bullet.”
Despite the loss, Weili remains an elite strawweight, and fans are awaiting her next move. Weili has amassed a Hall of Fame-worthy career outside of the Fight Wing, and she’ll likely earn the honor shortly after her career wraps up.
