White House Breaks Silence on Elon Musk After Stargate Comments
Karoline Leavitt, Donald Trump’s White House Press Secretary, spoke about Elon Musk for the first time since the Trump ally’s criticism of Stargate, a new entity that plans to invest $500 billion in U.S. artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure.
Within hours of Tuesday’s announcement, Musk, the billionaire SpaceX and Tesla CEO, had already started taking shots at Trump’s highly touted project.
In addition, Musk repeatedly attacked OpenAI chief executive Sam Altman on X, formerly Twitter. Musk, the world’s richest man, accused Altman of putting profits ahead of public interest as well as being insincere in his newfound support for Trump as a Stargate partner.
“It’s fascinating how much interest the media has in this fake news about Elon Musk versus Donald Trump. I was in the Oval Office with Elon Musk and Donald Trump two days ago and everything was dandy,” Leavitt told reporters Friday, according to a post on X by Matt Viser, the Washington Post’s White House bureau chief.
