Yankees-Red Sox Shockingly Connected In Alex Bregman Trade Rumors

The New York Yankees desperately need to find a third baseman this season. After losing Gleyber Torres in free agency, the Yankees haven’t added anybody worthwhile to replace him in the infield, and they’ve felt the impact.

There are plenty of options on the trade market this season for the Bronx Bombers to pursue.

FanSided’s Zachary Rotman recently made the shocking connection between the Yankees and Boston Red Sox infielder Alex Bregman in a potential head-scratching trade.

“For what feels like at least half a decade, the Yankees have needed a third baseman. Jazz Chisholm Jr. has been playing the position for much of this season with Oswaldo Cabrera sidelined and DJ LeMahieu taking over at the keystone, but he’s really a second baseman,” Rotman wrote. “That’s where Bregman can come in.

“This Yankees lineup is pretty heavy on lefties. Adding Bregman’s right-handed bat would give them more balance and another righty to fear other than Aaron Judge. Bregman would also come to the Bronx with an absurd amount of postseason success. Again, it’s probably not happening, but never say never. If he’s available, Brian Cashman should at least try.”

This deal would never happen. Rotman notes that it’s unlikely, but this feels like the kind of trade idea that shouldn’t even be looked at.

Yes, the fit makes sense for the Yankees, and they could deal away a good package of prospects and cash to land him. But it’s the Yankees and Red Sox. They’re more than likely never going to do business involving a superstar player like Bregman.
