10,000-Yard QB Enters Transfer Portal After Head Coaching Change
College football is inching ever so closer to its offseason resembling NFL free agency, and another massive bombshell dropped on Monday, pushing those narratives to the forefront.
As coaches from across the country, including LSU’s Lane Kiffin and Arizona State’s Kenny Dillingham, continue to search for their personal Fernando Mendoza that can transfer and lift their program to No. 1 in the nation, another star quarterback was entered into the hat today.
Byrum Brown, who was rated the fourth-best quarterback in the country this year by Pro Football Focus, is leaving the University of South Florida to enter the transfer portal that officially opens on Jan. 2, 2026.

Brown is one of the most dynamic athletes in all of college football, as he’s amassed over 10,000 yards in the four years he’s played thus far. From throwing to rushing to even catching the ball, Brown has wowed fans across the country while helping the Bulls achieve winning seasons the past three years.
The move comes weeks after his Bulls head coach, Alex Golesh, announced his departure from the program to join the Auburn Tigers. Brown has already been linked to joining Golesh at his new program, and those rumors will only intensify after Monday’s announcement.
In 2025, the dual-threat QB put up video-game numbers for a nine-win Bulls squad, throwing for 3,158 yards and rushing for 1,008 more, totaling 42 touchdowns.
