Carrie Underwood’s Husband Attends 1st Red Carpet in Years
Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek’s network of contributors
Carrie Underwood just hit the town with husband Mike Fisher — their first red carpet appearance together in more than two years.
The American Idol judge, 42, stepped out at the Opry 100: A Live Celebration event in Nashville on Wednesday, March 19, with Fisher, 44, at her side. The couple, who wed in 2010 and have two young sons together, posed for photos arm-in-arm, dressed to the nines in matching black ensembles. Underwood donned a strapless, floor-length gown with intricate, champagne-hued beadwork, while her hockey star husband wore a black suit with a color-coordinated black tie.

The pair’s outing at the Grand Ole Opry celebration marks their first red carpet appearance since the 2022 CMA Awards, where they once again color-coordinated on the carpet — this time in various shades of blue. The “Before He Cheats” singer donned a Cinderella-hued azure while Fisher sported a midnight blue suit.

While Fisher may not always be a red carpet staple, he has publicly supported Underwood throughout the years, posting a lengthy tribute to his wife via Instagram in 2019. Accompanied by a video of the eight-time Grammy winner performing, the Nashville Predators alum shared just how in awe he is over Underwood’s talent, determination, and her ability to juggle life as a superstar and as a mother.
“If I had a dollar every time someone on tour said ‘I don’t know how she does it’ I’d be rich:) I wish everyone could see how she does it!” Fisher gushed, noting how she still cared for the couple’s youngest son, Jacob (now 6) “a couple times a night.” Underwood then “wakes up and makes sure everyone is fed, then works out for 90 minutes (a workout much harder then mine) Then gets ready for the show with soundcheck etc, then meets dozen of fans, then meets radio people and then goes out and sings her heart out for 2 hours, then gets on the bus and on to the next city for a repeat.”
“It really is amazing how she does it all,” continued Fisher, whose eldest son with Underwood, Isiah, is 10. “Hard work is more important then [sic] talent in everything and she has loads of both but the short answer of how she does it is that God’s given her a crazy voice and determination (and energy) to be able to do what He’s called her to do!” the athlete gushed. “I love watching her do her thing.”
