Cat Meets Fellow Feline for the First Time, Makes His Feelings Very Clear

A cat described as “not a cat person” has gone viral for his reaction to meeting another of his species for the first time.

The jet-black feline belongs to TikTok user @swancloud9, and has amassed a huge online following for his reaction to meeting another cat for the first time, and showing just how unimpressed he was.

In the video, viewed more than 1.7 million times since being posted on July 1, the black cat sits in the corner, trying to make himself as small as possible. Crammed into the small corner, he sits with his face in the wall, refusing to look at anything around him.

The camera then pans to another feline, who is lying stretched out on the same ledge, looking relaxed and as if he is not even aware of the black cat just feet away from him, hiding in the corner.

The black feline’s owner wrote over the video that it was his “first time meeting another cat,” and added in a caption: “Let’s introduce [our] cats together, what could happen?”

TikTok users had a huge response, awarding the video more than 550,000 likes in a matter of days, as one commenter posted: “He’s not a cat person.”

“The fact that he didn’t even look for an actual hiding spot is killing me,” another wrote, as a third described it: “The void is displeased with the presence of another.”

“If only this was an acceptable response for us to seeing other people,” one comment read, while another asked: “Who put him in time out?”

And as one viewer described the situation: “Looks like he’s trying to become a shadow.”

Others were concerned the introduction took place far too quickly. When introducing two cats that will be living in the same household, it is advised to get the two animals used to each other’s scents first. You should also keep them separated while allowing the new cat to decompress in a room just for them, according to a vet-reviewed report from PetMD.

The cats should then meet through a barrier, and if they appear comfortable, remove the barrier and supervise their interactions, until it is clear the pair get along. This takes time and patience, depending on the two felines’ personalities.

In the case of this video, it is unclear whether the two cats would be sharing a home, or just visits.

The black cat’s owner said in a comment that they are introducing the felines bit by bit to “get comfortable with one another,” with regular but short meetups, and the two animals were due to meet up again the following day.
