Clippers Seen as Sleeper Team to Land Suns Star Kevin Durant: Report
The Phoenix Suns are expected to be one of the more active teams this offseason after missing the postseason entirely. Despite having Devin Booker, Kevin Durant, and Bradley Beal, the Suns couldn’t do much of anything this past season.

Due to this, the Suns are expected to make some drastic moves. This likely includes trading away Durant after a failed partnership together.
The Suns were rumored to be looking into moving Durant at the trade deadline a few months ago, so many believe they will do so again this summer. Durant is still one of the better players in the NBA today, so there will be multiple teams vying for his services.
Multiple teams have already been linked to Durant, such as the Houston Rockets, San Antonio Spurs, and others. But there is now a dark horse candidate to land Durant this offseason.
According to Suns insider John Gambadoro, the Los Angeles Clippers are being viewed as a potential sleeper team in the Durant sweepstakes.

The biggest issue with any deal between the Clippers and Suns is what Phoenix may be asking for. Los Angeles doesn’t have many draft picks to trade, and the team doesn’t have many young players who may interest the Suns.
Los Angeles does have the salaries to make a deal go down, but the Suns aren’t just going to give up Durant. The veteran averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.2 blocks, and 0.8 steals per game.

Any deal would likely start with veteran forward Norman Powell as the main trade piece. But if the two teams were to involve a third team, then a deal could be more likely.
Phoenix wants to contend next season, and losing Durant could be tough in making that happen. But if the Clippers were to send their assets to a third team for a player or two that could better help the Suns next year, a deal could be struck.
Durant will also have a say in where he is traded, and he is one of the more unpredictable stars in the NBA. But while it remains to be seen how the Durant trade situation will go down, his time in Phoenix seems to be coming to an end.
