Giants Pass On Quarterback In Lance Zierlein’s First Mock Draft

The Giants will be in the market for a new quarterback this offseason, and the draft seems to be the likely route to get one of the top signal-callers.
However, NFL Media’s Lance Zierlein does not see New York doing that in his first mock draft. Instead, he has the Giants taking Colorado wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter with the No. 3 overall selection.
“Two-way talent in the Big Apple! I like it! The Giants had the second-fewest interceptions in the league in 2024 (five). The ballhawking Hunter can help New York do a better job of taking the ball away — and score some touchdowns as a part-time receiver,” Zierlein said.
In Zierlein’s projections, Miami QB Cam Ward goes to the Titans with the first pick, leaving Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders still available. Sanders ends up sliding to the Raiders, who have the sixth selection.
Should the Giants take this approach, they could sign a veteran in free agency and wait until the 2026 NFL draft to get their guy. Based on 2024 regular season records, they have the most difficult schedule next season, so New York picking high again is very possible.
Hunter would give the Giants an electrifying one-two combo with him and Malik Nabers at the wide receiver position. New York could also fill a void at cornerback after Deonte Banks’ lackluster sophomore season.
