Giants’ Star Jaxson Dart Could be Forced to Make Major Change After Injury Return
Nobody can deny the star power of rookie Jaxson Dart. The dynamic young quarterback has breathed new life into the New York Giants organization, but that has come at a price. Dart remains in concussion protocol, and his head injury could lead to him being forced to make a major change.

Dart is similar in nature to Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson, in that both are tough runners who often put themselves at risk of injury. Richardson suffered multiple injuries due to his style of play, and Dart has been evaluated four times for a concussion in 2025.
Dart’s style of play is viable, but only if he is being smart about his own health in those running situations. The issue is the Giants were reportedly creating many designed runs for him, which resulted in the multiple concussion scares.
Brian Daboll may have been let go due to these designed runs, or they may have at least contributed to that fact. Now, it appears that many in the organization are pushing for Dart to make a major change in the way he plays.

Adam Schefter broke down the feelings regarding the Giants organization and the way Dart runs, and there is a belief that the coaching and training staff are urging the rookie to change the way he runs.
“People both inside and outside the Giants organization spoke with Dart, who remains in the concussion protocol, and urged the rookie quarterback to be more thoughtful and careful with when and how he runs.
“But whenever Dart returns, those around him believe he will have to modify how he runs.
“Since making his first start in Week 4, Dart has been hit 84 times combined between rushing and passing attempts — the second-highest total in the NFL during that stretch,” Schefter wrote.
There is a lot to unpack in Schefter’s report, and it starts with the fact that Dart has been hit 84 times. This is a staggering number that has led to the concussion that Dart suffered.
Dart is young in his career, but multiple head injuries can severely impact his career and life moving forward. He is also believed to be the franchise answer, so it makes sense the organization will all but force the quarterback to alter the way he runs.
The same situation occurred with Miami Dolphins Tua Tagovailoa, who suffered multiple concussions in his career. The organization expressed concern, leading to Tagovailoa sliding more and also taking judo classes to learn how to fall.
Dart is hoping to return in Week 12 for the Detroit Lions game. Should he return, the way he runs might be drastically different.
