Irish Leaders to Boycott St Patrick’s Day Celebrations at White House

Irish leaders will not attend St Patrick’s Day events at the White House next month over U.S. President Donald Trump’s comments on the war in Gaza.
“We are all heartbroken as we witness the suffering of the Palestinian people and the recent comments of the US President around the mass expulsion of the Palestinian people from Gaza, something I cannot ignore,” said Northern Ireland First Minister Michelle O’Neill, who is also vice president of Sinn Féin, a political party active in both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
