Report: Broncos Taking a Look at Intriguing Trade Option

Sean Payton and the Denver Broncos are currently viewed as a contender in the AFC through seven weeks of the 2025 NFL season. Thus far, they have been able to compile a 5-2 record.

Led by Bo Nix, the Broncos are fresh off of a wild comeback win over the New York Giants last week. Despite not scoring a single point in the first three quarters of the game, Denver scored 33 points in the fourth quarter en route to a hard-fought and shocking 33-32 win.

Ahead of the upcoming NFL trade deadline, the Broncos might have an opportunity to improve their chances of contending in the playoffs.

With that in mind, where could Denver look to make that improvement? A new report has suggested a very intriguing option.

According to a report from NFL insider Dianna Russini of The Athletic, the Broncos are open to the idea of making a trade at the tight end position. Currently, the team has Evan Engram penciled in as their starting tight end.

“The Broncos are monitoring the tight end market,” Russini wrote.

So far this season, Engram has been a solid presence within the Denver offense. He has caught 22 passes for 179 yards and a touchdown in six games.

Those numbers aren’t bad, but the Broncos might be targeting bigger production at tight end. Or, at the very least, they might be looking to bring in a player who can create mismatches in two tight end sets alongside of Engram.

Bringing in more talent around Nix will always be a good decision for Denver. The 25-year-old quarterback has started his second NFL season off by completing 62.5 percent of his passes for 1,556 yards, 11 touchdowns, and four interceptions in seven games. He has also picked up 172 yards and scored three more times on the ground.

On the outside looking in, the Broncos appear to be legit. They will have a chance to make an impact come playoff time. However, making a move or two to increase those chances would be wise if the right opportunities present themselves.

Keep an eye on Denver when it comes to potential tight end trade targets ahead of the deadline.
