Watch Hysterical Moment Cop ‘Attacked’ by Out-of-Control Halloween Display
A Halloween decoration’s “attack” on an Ohio police officer has left viewers online in stitches.
The now-viral moment in which a Bay Village Police Department officer confronted and was subsequently shoved aside by the large inflatable pumpkin was shared to Facebook on October 14. The post has since been viewed more than 63,000 times and sparked a flurry of amused comments from Facebook users.
Viewers were able to see the officer driving down a rainy road in Bay Village, Ohio, in search of the “runaway pumpkin”—a huge inflatable Halloween decoration that come away from a house during strong winds and gone down Wolf Road, where it had been deemed a safety hazard.
Once the officer had located and closed in on the pumpkin, he disembarked the vehicle and walked towards it in an attempt to finally tame and deflate it.
To his surprise, the pumpkin “fought back,” thanks to the winds that blew it towards to the officer. Viewers were able to see the debacle from the officer’s car camera, which captured his difficulty in restraining the decoration. Eventually, another officer joined in to help and together they were able to push the pumpkin onto the sidewalk, freeing up the road once more.
The post was captioned: “Bay Village Officer Attacked by Halloween Display! On Monday October 14, Bay Village Police were dispatched to the area of Wolf Road and Saddler Road for a runaway pumpkin. Luckily, no officers (or pumpkins) were harmed during the event. Once backup officers arrived, the pumpkin was returned to the homeowner.”
Viewers online took to the comments section to share their takes on the unexpected police call, which has since become a hilarious viral moment.
“As funny as this is, it’s also a good reminder to deflate your decorations during a storm. Thankfully it didn’t get tied up in the power lines or worse,” one viewer said.
Another added: “Forget about * James in the Giant Peach * , Now it’s more interesting , * (Popo and the Giant Pumpkin) , coming to a theatre near you . LOL from Nancy in Ontario 🇨🇦.”
“Omg! It ate him,” one said.
Another added: “In my best Gene Wilder voice… ‘It’s alive!'”
Newsweek reached out to Bay Village Police Department for more information via Facebook. We couldn’t verify the details of the case.
