Woman Told Her Border Collie Has ‘Receded Hairline,’ Now She Can’t Unsee It

A dog with unusual markings was described as having a receding hairline, and now his owner can’t unsee it.

Border collie Chase lives with his owner, Baylee Demaree, 21, in Central Indiana and recently enjoyed viral fame when a video of him following his owner around the house went viral.

But one comment on that clip stood out to Demaree, and she posted another video to her TikTok account, @bayrayd, just to discuss it.

That comment? “He’s cute but why does he have a receded hairline?”

In the video, shared on October 10, Demaree reads out the comment before panning to Chase, whose white-and-brown colors do, in fact, give him the appearance of having a receding hairline.

Demaree told Newsweek: “Although we definitely noticed our sweet Chasey boy has a pretty unique look to him compared to other border collies, we never noticed his ‘receding hairline’ or his ‘widow’s peak’.

“We think this is the funniest thing ever, and can’t help but notice it every time we look at him,” she said.

TikTok users were in stitches at the clip and reveal of Chase’s “hairline,” with the footage racking up millions of views and over 600,000 likes.

One commenter wrote: “The widow’s peak is on point tho,” while one admitted: “I literally spat my water out when the camera panned to him.”

“He seems so embarrassed too. Poor guy,” another wrote of the collie, as one compared the dog to a “toddler who found the scissors”.

Demaree, who runs a dog grooming business, said Chase is “handling his newfound fame very well, and is trying to stay humble even after reading all of the comments about how handsome he is.”

Like humans, dogs can experience hair loss, but not in the way that would leave them with a classic receding hairline.

Fur loss can be caused by anything from allergies to illnesses, nervous licking of the area, or from friction, such as from a collar, according to Wag! Dog owners concerned about hair loss in their pets should contact their veterinarian.

Demaree has been overjoyed by the “new friends” she had made on TikTok thanks to Chase, and plans to make more videos with “our handsome, unique-looking boy.”

“We are excited to see what the future holds for him,” she told Newsweek.
